FCC Inter-Club Digital Image Challenge
Please select the competition year below.
The Farnborough Camera Club Interclub Digital Challenge Trophy was contested in our club rooms on Thursday 16 December 2010.
This was the fifth year of this competition which FCC holds for local clubs as an annual event. This year we invited PhotoCirkel, Oberursel in addition to the six clubs that competed last year. PhotoCirkel is a small camera club in Oberursel, a town in Germany which is twinned with Farnborough. Each club was asked to submit 10 images, making a total of 70 PDIs for our judge to assess. All the local clubs were well represented on the evening, making it a most entertaining event for both the judge and the competing clubs.
The judge, Chris Palmer ARPS DPAGB APAGB AFIAP, commented that the standard of the wildlife images presented was excellent, and mentioned that he found this to be a prevailing feature in both club and national competitions. His analysis of the individual images was as always very comprehensive. He started by assessing whether or not the photographer had achieved "a picture" and then went on to explain what had made the picture or, if he thought it flawed, to say precisely why he found it lacking. Each image was marked out of 10, and he awarded the top mark to four images, three were wildlife and the fourth an aircraft action shot (photojournalism).
This year Farnborough CC successfully defended the Trophy, against strong challenges from Bracknell CC who were the runners-up and Windlesham & Camberley CC who were in third place.
