Photographic distinctions are awarded by two bodies in the UK, the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB). The RPS bestow, in increasing prestige, the LRPS (Licentiateship of The RPS), ARPS (Associateship) and the FRPS (Fellowship). The PAGB Awards for Photographic Merit also has three levels; CPAGB (Credit), DPAGB (Distinction) and MPAGB (Master).
Club members with an interest in gaining a photographic distinction should seek out John Childs ARPS DPAGB BPE** SCPF Roll of Honour, our current distinctions advisor.

I chose to do a project at the Mid Hants Railway (The Watercress Line) to shoot a number of images showing its trains, and its personnel going about their duties, in order to convey the purpose of a heritage steam railway showing the way things were in the days of steam. My images are therefore in the nature of a pictorial documentary. The Watercress Line will consider using some of the images in their publicity material and I will hold an exhibition of my images in the near future. Some of the images have already appeared on the Railway’s website and in the Mid-Hants News (the journal of the Mid-Hants Railway).
