Change of Club Name

At the AGM on the 21st May a motion was carried to change the name from Farnborough Camera Club to Farnborough Photography Club.

The reason behind the proposal was that there are a large number of people who take pictures on their mobile phone, and the term ‘camera’ might be off putting to those potential members since (whilst camera is used to describe the phone image capture sensor) it is largely associated with ‘big’ devices. As a club we support mobile phone photography and wish to be inclusive to those current and potential members who do use their phone as their primary camera. Changing the name is a small way in which we can indicate that all photographers are welcome regardless of their device.
