Once I joined my first camera club, I realised just how much I had to learn and then practice improving my photography. My camera choices have always been driven by my intended subjects; example being in my teens changing an Instamatic to an Halina so the dragsters actually were in the shot as they left the line at Santa Pod, to my latest one to capture fast jets in the Welsh mountains.
My photography interests range from street photography, fast jets, travel photography to capturing street art all using my smartphone, an infra-red camera or my other camera.

I’ve been around photography from a young age, following my Father and elder brother in the red light filled darkroom of old, before owning my own film camera in my teens. But it was the digital age that gave fuel to my interest, being able to rapidly see results was a game changer for me. Joining a camera club opened a world of photographic genre and techniques beyond the family snaps and I’ve dabbled in most.
I enjoy Portraiture, Street and Event photography as I have a real interest in people and people behaviour, but I am most interested in the bizarre where the works of Man Ray, Lee Miller, Dora Mara, Florence Henri and others realise that surrealist image from the depths of the mind.

Serious photographer since starting in 2014. Have slowly developed my skills and knowledge since then and am now an SCPF level 2+ Judge and I have over 65 judging events under my belt. Studying other people’s images is a great way to improve your own. My photographic comfort zone is close-up/macro and focus stacking of both plants and insects; I also have a strong tendency to convert a lot of my images to mono. Additionally, I have recently developed a strong interest in Street Photography and have attended several practical and zoom-based workshops to understand the genre better. I am pretty proficient with Lightroom and Photoshop post processing.
