London Street Photography
Submission from Chris Bean
A few days ago three members of the Street SIG travelled up to London for a day of street photography. The day was gloomy and overcast so there was no opportunity to explore light and shadows, but we were able to spend time working on our candid street portrait skills, silhouettes and reflections.
After a coffee to fortify us we spent some time around London Bridge station, before moving on to Borough Market. The latter is a great place to practice candid portraiture as everyone seems to have a camera, or phone in one hand. We then called in at Tate Modern and spent some time exploring the basement of the Blavatnik Building with its concrete staircases. We walked back along the Southbank checking out the skateboarders near the National Theatre. Our final stop was Leake Street to see the constantly changing street art there. Despite the gloomy weather, we came away with some interesting images (some of which are included here) and shared a few hints and tips along the way.
