Nature SIG – Trip to Noar Hill

On Sunday 1st June a group of us went to Noar Hill, hoping to photograph orchids and butterflies. The butterflies were decidedly thin on the ground, as were insects in general but there were plenty of orchids. Although I didn’t see any myself (they were always behind me apparently) others spotted Holly Blue, Common Blue, and Small Heath butterflies. The list of orchids was slightly longer – Pyramidal, Common Spotted, Common Fragrent, Musk and Common Twayblade.

As the morning progressed, the wind increased and so did our thirst so we headed back down to the Cafe in Selborne village and enjoyed coffee and homemade sausage rolls. A good end to an enjoyable morning.
