New Street Special Interest Group
On Monday 11th November an introductory session was held by Chris Bean to discuss Street photography and whether any focus would like to be placed on it as a Special Interest Group (SIG). Farnborough Camera Club runs a number of SIG meetings throughout the year, usually heeld online as an opportunity to present and critique images, share ideas, organise trips etc.
It was a very productive meeting, with Chris giving a quick presentation running through his ideas of what street photography is, how to achieve the best outcomes, what makes a good street image. There were a good number of tips about safe shooting, planning for a destination, respect for subjects and of course, how to get a good image.
It was proposed that the SIG is active throughout the season, whether it be as individuals or as a number of members going out as a group.
For the purpose of the SIG it was agreed that the genre would encompass pretty much any image shot on the street, including candid, urban art, events, street performance, urban landscape or architecture.
Members are anticipating an active group in the future. There is a new SIG web page at Special Interest Group – Street Photography – Farnborough Camera Club and Flickr page at Farnborough CC Street Sharing
