Waterloo Has Some New Pigeons
Submission from Chris Bean
When you next visit London look out for some huge pigeons that have filled a railway arch at Waterloo. But don’t worry they won’t cr** on you as you walk past, as they are paintings.
The London School of Muralism ( which I’d never heard of until now) recently secured permission from Network Rail to use the railway arch for an annually changing series of public artworks, which their students will decorate.
The first has just been completed, and shows a range of anthropomorphic pigeons hanging around or commuting to their nearest discarded chicken-in-a-box lunch spot.
The mural can be found in one of the arches under the railway in front of Waterloo station next to the bus stops and will be there for about a year.
