The Winchester Project
Submission from Lesley Taylor
Last summer our members were given a challenge. The brief was simple, spend a day in Winchester and take photos on a theme of your choice. Everyone who took part would then have their own chapter in the resulting book. Although our brief was different, the project was inspired by a project undertaken at Norwich Camera Club under the guidance of Stewart Wall.
Fourteen members of our club took up the challenge and each was allowed 12 pages in the book that followed. We were excited to find that we’d all approached the challenge differently and there was very little overlap between the chapters. Styles were also diverse as one would expect which has resulted in a book that we’re all very proud of.
Participants also agreed that it was very enjoyable putting together a small body of work that wasn’t going to be judged. A small project, with all photos taken in one day by a group of keen photographers with varying levels of experience but a great deal of enthusiasm. This was our first attempt at such a project but I’m sure it won’t be our last.
Below is a PDF version of the book, split into two parts. Whist this is a low resolution rendering of the book, it gives a taste of the images from the members.
The second part of the book.
